BC Stylin' On You: Hip Hop Grown Up by @BMCStyle
Happy New Year Everyone! I hope you all ha d a blessed holiday season. One of my favorite gifts that I received was the book "Decoded" by rapper/mogul Jay Z. In his memoir, Jay does an amazing job of shedding light on how hip-hop music connects so many of us. His stories brought back memories of how influential hip-hop music was on me while growing up. The hip-hop genre has inspired so many of us in many different ways, yet it connects us to one another all the same. It's like a language that we can all understand. Not only has hip-hop as a culture evolved over the years, but it's style has matured as well. I began looking up photos of some of my favorite hip-hop artists and realized how much hip-hop's style has changed. Guys have gone from wearing XXL jerseys and baggy jeans to cardigans and pants that actually fit. It's refreshing to see a man's style evolve over the years. It's even more exciting when we see some of our favorite hip hop artists developing a passion for fashion! So, to all my guys who love hip-hop and have been influenced by its culture, I urge you to be inspired by these artists not only through their music but also by the evolution of their own personal style! Congrats Hip-Hop, we've GROWN UP! Here are some of my favorite looks on some of my favorite guys!
Shout to my home girl Bernadette in San Diego for reaching out to me about her style letter for January! Now fellas take the words and apply or be a G and have ya girl do it for you. Well that's what I do...everyone know I hate shopping!
