As every member in BC knew, November was going to be a "busy" month...By busy we meant "BIG"! Big events, big shows and big debuts. On November 12, after all the FaceBook fodder and Twitter hype, BC finally unveiled it's long-awaited album, Keys To The Suite. And sweet, it was!
We initially wanted to have the listening-party take place in a hotel suite, for obvious reasons, but we couldn't find a suite big enough and within our price range (it's a recession, we ball on budgets) to accommodate the specs we needed to pull it off, so by the grace of God and a few friends in high places we were able to reserve a hall that was most suitable to our needs. The harder you work, the luckier you get and we worked hard to pull this event off. Everything that we needed to happen fell perfectly into place, e.g. The delivery of the CDs arrived on time ($170 in over-night shipping fees and a trip to a warehouse in Miramar, made by Nard, made this possible), the room reservation (we got it for cheap), and the heated quarrels about punctuality and who's gonna pick up which supplies ("I'm on ni**as helmets!" and "we don't need balloons!" screamed Nard incessantly) were the behind-the-scenes issues that made the execution of this event so much more enjoyable. The only thing that dwarfed our euphoric feeling of accomplishment was the outpouring of love and support showed to us by all who attended. The love shown by all was genuine and neither the written or spoken word can express the joy and gratitude we felt for the people who were there.
After getting our guests hopped up on a variety of varietals and sparkling wine (Rozay!!!!) we started the listening session.
We debuted 11 tracks from the album and gave a few background details on how some of the songs came about. Quote of the night may have come from Marrel in expressing his elation for the song "Weekend", --"This song makes my nipples hard!"
The song which got the most reaction seemed to be "Japan" and may have solidified which video to shoot next *hint, hint*.
After explaining and listening to the tracks we thanked everyone who played a role in helping us complete our wonderful masterpiece of an album. I use "masterpiece" because it was a collaborative effort and when you have so many great minds working on one common goal, you have no choice, but to put out a great product, or masterpiece, if you will.
When all of the kudos were doled out, we were ready to premiere our amazing video to "Something About It", shot and edited by HDProFilms. We cannot say enough about these guys! Consummate professionals! If you don't believe us, see for yourself. Robert Buchanan, Dominique Gilbert and Cesar Andres produced an amazing video that fit the tone of our project and we couldn't have been more pleased.
Everyone who attended, left with at least one copy of our album, some autographed.
Again, thank you all who came out and supported us. We did it for y'all! We did it for the people who've stuck in our corner since day one and we did it for our newly-found friends and supporters of this BC movement.
We're calling this month No-Sleep November, because big things are happening for BC! The completion of "Keys To The Suite", the album-release party and video premiere were big events for us. We got little sleep, but high reward! And we're not done yet...BC/UP! (words of Slice)
P.S. The end of the listening party didn't mean the end of the night...SEE BC PERFORMANCE @ ONYX!
