18 up-and-coming music producers made their way to Chicago to participate in a head-to-head battle to be crowned the winner of the Red Bull Big Tune. The attendees of the event were also blessed with a lesson in MPC use with a battle between AraabMUZIK and Exile and to wrap things up, a performance from Just Blaze and DJ Premier. If you’ve never really seen an MPC battle before, I suggest taking a look. Everything you see was done live and it’s crazy, especially when AraabMUZIK dropped “Salute” from Dipset. As a side note, it does get a little loud so make sure you adjust your volume accordingly.
Thoughts, Just Blaze have been talking about his album that's dropping next month like crazy. Hope it lives up, but this had my head nodding.
The actor/rapper, Saigon just might have something here with his forthcoming album The Greatest Story Never Told, as virtually all of the leaks I’ve checked out thus far have been pretty impressive. With the title track here on our hands, it proves to be the most solid drop from the upcoming project thus far, as I feel should be true in a titled piece. And oh yeah, can’t forget, Just Blaze on the beat. No further words necessary in that regard. The Greatest Story Never Told in stores February 19th. PS. Saigon will indeed make an appearance or two in the upcoming, finale season of Entourage.
In short, if you were unable catch just what legendary composer/producer Quincy Jones said regarding Kanye West, let me inform you. He was approached about being recently compared to the rapper/producer (Kanye), when he then went on to adamantly say that there is no similarity at all, because Kanye is merely a rapper and he himself works with full orchestras and a wide variety of instruments. The musical maven did however go on to apologize in attempts to leave no ill effect towards Mr. West, but as expected, some damage was done. We have yet to hear what Yeezy thought of the comments, but here we now have what Just Blaze had to say in reference to the situation, and of course, Blaze is backing his boy.
Jeff, Eric (It’s The Real) and Jensen sit down with Just Blaze for their latest Hype Men podcast and honestly, this is probably the best one.
EPISODE 7: super producer Just Blaze joins the Hype Men to discuss what he owes the Diplomats + his portrayal in Jay-Z’s movie Fade To Black + early Kanye + Jay Electronica’s next move + Amil’s whereabouts + the latest on T.I. + running into Charles Hamilton + his current thoughts on Joe Budden + “Pump It Up” + his falling out with Dame Dash + what Aloe Blacc’s done for cancer research + more!
