The Salty D!!!!!
As much as I LOVE San Diego, (and trust me, I LOVE SD! like Ron Burgandy loves scotch) I find it frustrating and troublesome that we have to go out to come in. By that I mean, you've got a better chance of striking oil in Chula Vista than getting local support from the radio stations or even our own peers. The only station that did support went belly up (Shout out to Mike Live and Vanya). With that said, we have to go and blow elsewhere before our own city recognizes the talent. It's like SD is a bunch of sheep that need outside recognition before we can deem something hot. It's sad that we have a crabs-in-a-barrel mentality about blowing up and representing our local talent. Think about it: Have you ever seen someone you knew, in high school or middle school, on television? The first thing that comes to mind is: "I went to high school with him/her! They were (insert insult or derogatory comment)!"
I guess it's human nature to be a little jealous at first, but it shouldn't be like that. We should congratulate our peers. In no way am I fishing for compliments. If we suck and you don't like the music, please say so! If you like it and appreciate it, please say so! Are we afraid of being dubbed dick riders? Just cause you support good music doesn't make you a weak individual. And taking the middle ground and not saying anything is just as bad. Let's be more proactive with our artists like the Bay and hold down our own... SD, grow a pair, jump out on a limb (it's very sturdy in our case) and shout from the mountains that you're repping and riding with BC! And don't be afraid to say it's wack! It's a two-way street and we're well aware of that. There's a lot of talent out here, so help us be the pioneers and shine the light on our fair city. Jump on our backs and let's go for a ride. We will not disappoint.
P.S. Reppin waaaaaaay harder than Nick Cannon. BC!!!!
P.P.S. Shout out to all the SD artists who've been reppin since day one:

@HDProFilms thoughts on BC's "Something About It" Video Shoot!

Man what an experience with HDPROFilms this past weekend during our video shoot of "Something About It"! Thanks again Rob Buchanan, Cesar Andre and Dominique Gilbert for everything and making the video shoot an amazing experience for us.
This weekend HDPROFILMS took on a music video project for a group out of San Diego called Black Cotton. Their song “Something About” has a very upscale feel that catches you with a glancing blow of the street when you’re not looking.
In this video we wanted to embellish on the smooth vibe of the song and give the viewers a taste of what a day in the life of Black Cotton artists Marrel, Jimbo & Leo Nardo is like. [READ MORE]

@OurWordIsBond .com showing BC love with "Something About It"
OurWordIsBond.com gave is a dope write up and posted "Something About It". Read below:
This one hits home for me, well my newest one at least. For our followers that don’t know, I am a New Yorker born and raised but have been lucky enough to make it out west to do a little studying in the fine city of San Diego. And as any hip-hop head out here will tell you, saying our scene is dormant would be an understatement. But low and behold there is hope for us yet. A group by the name of Black Cotton is looking to breathe some life into the community. With a laid back vibe you’d expect from SD, the group is composed of three emcees: Jimbo Slice, Leo Nardo and music producer, Marre-L. This track is the single from their upcoming project titled Keys To The Suite and samples daft punk to compliment their R&B-Funk style.
